13/10/2011 - David Cameron's Airbus visit as 6,000 jobs secured

Prime Minister David Cameron is due to arrive at a new Airbus factory which the company claims will secure 6,000 jobs in Flintshire.

About 650 workers will be based at the North Factory, Broughton, where carbon-fibre wings for the new A350 airliner will be made.

Airbus says it means job security for all staff at Broughton, the UK's largest single manufacturing site.

It has more than 550 orders for the A350, due to be in service in 2013.

A new £400m plant making carbon-fibre wings for Airbus' new A350 airliner will secure 6,000 jobs in Flintshire, the company says.

Around 650 workers will be based at the new factory, which officially opens at Broughton later.

The mid-sized A350 will be able to carry up to 340 passengers when it starts service in 2013.

Airbus said it means job security for the coming years at Broughton, the UK's largest single manufacturing site.

The company has more than 550 orders for the A350, which is due to be ready for service in two years.
